I came to create this dish after living many years in England. I decided to name the dish English Paella because it has a final resemblance to the international Spanish dish but prepared with ingredients that can be found in the UK without much hassle. Please be advised that no one in Spain prepares paella this way. English Paella is unique to England. There is the superstition that English paella cannot be cooked in Spain, as the Spanish Inquisition will come back from the dead and haunt the cook that dares to prepare it.
Why am I sharing my secret recipe with you? Because I do not want this delicious recipe to be lost to future generations, I am this generous.
To cook English paella is really easy, do not be scared for the amount of ingredients required to prepare it. It is important to get hold of a paella pan, or to use the biggest saucepan you can get.
The ingredients needed for 4 people are:
2 sliced chicken breasts
500g of chopped chipolatas
1 pack of cooked shrimps, peeled
1 pack of chorizo Revilla, sliced
200g of frozen peas
2 sliced onions
2 chopped tomatoes
1 sliced pepper
1 pack organic rice easy cook, it is not paella rice but guarantees a good texture to the dish
2 packs of fish broth
The first step is to fry in olive oil all the ingredients a part from the rice and the broth. Once it starts to smell nice and look cooked, add the rice for a while, mix it with the rest of the ingredients and after five minutes add the packs of fish broth. Cook it for 30min or until the rice is cooked and there you have it! The yummiest English paella in the world!
Please note that the yellowish color is given by the saffron, do not add turmeric to the English paella. This practice it is forbidden and if you do it, the closest garden gnome will eat your paella! Enjoy the dish and hasta la vista babies!
